The all new Border Run Rally commenced on Saturday, August 20 with 500+ miles of amazing Texas and Oklahoma roads perfect for the automotive enthusiast. Whether you love attacking the twisties or the open road, there was something for you. The catch…Border Run is a gimmick rally, so driving 500 miles in one day isn’t as easy as one would imagine. All along the route, you’re figuring out gimmicks (clues, riddles, etc.). Some show you the route you need to follow and some go toward points in the competition. Since Border Run is not a race and is self-paced by each driver and navigator, the awards are for those who find the most gimmicks.

The following is a guest entry written by Todd Hyso. I work with Todd at my day job and he loves cars easily as much as the next fanatic. Don’t speak of modern cars around him too much though. He gets moody if you don’t discuss cars older than me.
My dad and I saw what I believe to be a 2012 Chevrolet Aveo 5-door conducting high-altitude testing in Buena Vista, CO yesterday. Between the spectacular views on our drive up to Tincup in the old Blazer and this Aveo sighting, it was a good day. It was also pretty cool that the driver was checking out our vehicle as well.
Please excuse the poor photo quality, as all I had was my phone with me.
You may remember that I had the opportunity to review the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS a few months ago. Well, that wasn’t all the fun I had with the car. The guys at Burnout Radio planned out an amazing day of head-to-head goodness with the Camaro, a Dodge Challenger SRT-8, and a Ford Mustang GT500.
Mark your calendars for February 22 when the full video hits, but for now, here a teaser!
Chevrolet has once again taken over a small parking lot on the south side of the State Fair of Texas. I highly recommend checking them out if you go to the fair this year. I was able to attend the Sneak Peek a couple days ago and was impressed with the “Chevy Experience”. You can even drive a Bumblebee Camaro around the course. Unfortunately, “no wheel spin” is the rule…something about not wanting mangled fenders and flattened fences. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the Chevrolet lineup. So after you get some fried butter, stop on by. If you’re on Twitter, follow @GMTexas and let them know you’re coming!
